New Benetti Tradition 105 Is Launched

The Benetti yard in Viareggio launched their 25th hull in the successful 105 tradition series on the 23rd of February. The traditional breaking of the bottle on the hull was one of the customary steps involved the launch, that was witnessed by a very proud owner and all Benetti staff who were involved in the construction over the past several months.

The Tradition 105 maintains the traditional classic lines with a completely updated new interior layout that will provide the owner and guests with the comfort and functionality that is associated with Benetti Yachts. She will be able to accommodate 10 guests in 1 owners master suite forward on the main deck, 2 double cabins and 2 twin cabins on the lower deck.

The technical launch marks the beginning of a long series of sea trials and tests that will cover the hull, the engines and the on-board systems. The outfitting of the yacht will proceed after the tests and before she is officially handed over to her new owners.

Superyacht 360 Catches Fire in Nice

The 47m (154ft) Superyacht 360 launched in 2003 by ISA caught fire earlier today in Nice, France. Dozens of fire fighters battled the fire which is thought to have started due to an electrical fault. No one was injured in the fire, but the yachts spring charter season might be disrupted due to the damage. Mega Yacht Global will bring you more information as it comes.

Gulf Craft Launch The Majesty 135 & Deliver A Majesty 121

Majesty 135

Gulf Craft have successfully launched its first hull of the highly anticipated Majesty 135 design. She is Gulf Craft's largest Majesty yacht built to date, showing that they are becoming a major player in the global Superyacht market.

The Majesty 135 is 41m (135ft) in length and has 3 decks in which the owner can semi customize to their taste. The interior design which is provided by CDB Yacht Design focuses on comfort enhancing features such as an on board elevator and a spacious interior which features a bamboo veneer theme, gold plated fittings and a splendor of marble and granite throughout the yacht.

She will be able to accommodate up to 10 guests including the owner in 4 guest staterooms and the owners stateroom which boasts an office, walk in wardrobe and an en suite bathroom.

Her initial sea trials have already been conducted successfully with the delivery of the yacht to her owner scheduled for April.

Majesty 121

Recently Gulf Craft have have delivered another of their most successful and popular models the Majesty 121 which has an overall length of 37m (121ft).

Over her 2 decks she has a great range of features which include a main saloon, dining area, pantry and a lobby on the main deck, and a spacious flybridge with seating area and jacuzzi. She will be able to accommodate 10 guests in 2 double and 2 twin cabins on the lower deck, and a full beam owners stateroom forward on the main deck.

She is now on the dock in the Emirates Palace Hotel Marina in Abu Dhabi as seen in the above photo, and will be on display to the public at the up coming Dubai International Boat Show which runs from the 13th to 17th of March.

Holland Jachtbouw Launch New J Class 'Rainbow'

A new addition to the renowned J Class fleet was launched during the week at the Dutch yard Holland Jachtbouw. Rainbow is 40m (131ft) and is a replica of the famed 1934 America's Cup Winner Rainbow. The J Class fleet of yachts include some of the most iconic and beautiful yachts on the water today. The fleet includes such yachts as Ranger, Velsheda and Hanuman just to name a few and these yachts will be taking part in the J Class Regatta in June and July of this year in Cowes, England.

Rainbow has taken over two years to build compared to her predecessor which was completed in 100 days. This does not mean that the yard is slower it is just a reflection of the incredible craftsmanship, perfection and sophistication that you find in modern yacht building. Another reason that the original only took 100 days is that it was empty inside for racing purposes and didn't have the luxurious interior of the current Rainbow (which all J Class yacht have to have to be compliant with JCA rules).

One of Rainbow's special features that stands her apart from the other J Class yachts is her hybrid propulsion system. This system was developed between Holland Jachtbouw and WhisperPower especially for this project. Rainbow can be operated entirely on her Hy-Store Li-ion batteries, including sailing, navigation and hotel load. This also meets the owner’s request for silent periods onboard, without generators running, from 11 pm to 7 am. The batteries can also be charged while sailing without losing more than 1.5 kts of speed. A key benefit of this system is that it will reduce the carbon footprint by using 30 percent less fuel.

Her rig includes a Southern Spars carbon mast, boom and spinnaker pole, continuous carbon fibre rigging, North Sails 3Di racing sails and Lewmar high-speed hydraulic winches. Her interior was designed by Dutch designers deVosdeVries, which features raised and fielded mahogany panelling with art deco details. She will be able to accommodate up to 8 guests in the owner’s stateroom which is aft and 2 ensuite twin guest cabins, each with a Pullman berth.

She will be undergoing sea trials in March before she sets off to the North Sea with her crew and professional racing team for 7 days of extensive training. After her summer of J Class racing she will head to the Monaco Yacht Show where she can be viewed by the public.

Feadships "Helix" Arrives in Asia

Feadship is taking a brand new Superyacht to Asia this spring. A dedicated tour by Helix 45m (147ft) will take in Hong Kong in March and the Hainan Rendezvous in early April before heading off to the Singapore boat show at the end of the month.

Feadship has an unrivalled pedigree in the Superyacht market and a history that goes back to 1849. Although the Dutch experts were building large yachts for Middle Eastern and European royalty in the 1930s, many maritime historians point to the 1951 New York Boat Show as the defining moment in the Feadship success story. This was the first time that Feadship had displayed its yachts to the American public, which expressed immediate admiration for the quality and craftsmanship. More than half of the 250 Feadships launched have been created for owners in the United States. Now with the arrival of Helix in China, Feadship is set to embark on a new phase in superyacht history.

Feadship director Dick van Lent, who will be among the senior Feadship managers accompanying Helix on this Asian tour comments;“Each Feadship is totally unique and each reflects our commitment to set new standards in terms of perfect craftsmanship and superior technology.”

Helix can accommodate 10 guests in 4 guest suites and a master suite which is forward on the main deck. All guests enjoy phenomenal views from their cabins which will be seen by invited guests and potential clients who will be given personal tours of the yacht. She will be on tour in Asia from 18th March through 29th April and will be staying at the Gold Coast Marina in Hong Kong from March 18 to 31. She will then head for the third Hainan Rendezvous, which is being held at the Visun Royal Yacht Club from April 5th to 8th. She will also attend the Singapore yacht show from April 27th to 29th.

Princess Yacht's 40M Close To Completion

Princess Yachts new 40m (131ft) is in its final stages and close to completion at their purpose built assembly hangar in Plymouth’s historic South Yard. Imperial Princess will be the longest production yacht ever made in Britain when she is launched in the spring of this year.

Owners will be able to fully customize their yacht to create the yacht of their dreams, no two will ever be alike. There is an impressive variety of layout options to choose from either four or five guest cabin option, for example and you can choose to have a cinema instead of one of the midships cabins down below, and a gym in place of the other one.

The owner of hull No.1 has chosen the five cabin option with two VIP double cabins and two twin cabins all en suite, which are situated on the lower deck. These cabins will have large side windows to let in plenty of natural light as seen in the image above. The fifth cabin is the owners full beam cabin which is forward on the main deck and is accessed through a versatile room which can be specified as an office, private TV room or a reading room to suit the owner’s personal requirements.

The main deck will include the main saloon, formal dining area, a professional galley which was designed to the exact brief of a professional chef and hydraulically folding balconies on both sides of the saloon.

On the third deck there is an elegant sky lounge and an exterior dining area for private drinks and al fresco dining. A curved stairway leads up to the sun deck complete with bar, seating, sunbathing and a jacuzzi.

Her interior was designed by Princess in collaboration with the London studio of Bannenberg & Rowell. Her interior will have a variety of different woods, granites, stones, and fabrics to give a classic look of contrasting tones, textures and surfaces.

J Class Yacht Britannia Arrives in Cowes

"On King George V's death in January 1936, what should happen to his massive (120ft) and famous J Class yacht Britannia. He'd left instructions that she was to follow him to the grave. She was stripped of all her spars and fittings and her hull was towed out from Cowes and sunk off St Catherine's Deep, somewhere west of the Ventnor and south of the Needles on July 1st 1936."

On the 4th of February 2012 J Class yacht Britannia arrived at the dock at her new home in Cowes, England after her long journey through some hash weather conditions from Norway. She started life in 1993 where her hull was built at a frozen shipyard north of the Arctic Circle, in Russia's port of Arkhangelsk, and financed by a Norwegian magnate she moved to Norway in 2009. Britannia and the rebuilding project have been acquired by Minicast Holdings Ltd, Gibraltar, which upon her completion will be donating the use of the yacht for a minimum of 10 years to the Britannia Trust.

The plan for her is that she will be used as a flagship for charity, reaching out to underprivileged children, war veterans and to be used as a fundraising venue for upcoming charities in the UK and across the globe. Her completion is set to commence and the Britannia Trust that owns her are set to invest in the fitting of new deck ware, restoring her interior, her mast, rigging and sails back to what they were in the classic days of Cowes yachting.

An amount of 2.3 million pounds has been budgeted for the full reconstruction process to be completed as well as for the various related costs. The reconstruction team has already approached a number of companies to assist in sponsoring the capital required, and is confident that the reconstruction work can be completed in budget and on time.

Mr Giuseppe Longo has agreed to project manage Britannia's reconstruction process and Stefano Faggioni from Studio Faggioni Yacht Design will be in charge to fully restore her interior to pristine condition. Her new interior will have the same look and feel as the original but with modern additives, giving a wonderful fusion of modern and old.

Her full reconstruction process will be documented via video and digital media, from her arrival at Cowes to her final unveiling as a finished yacht. A live video steam via webcam can be used by anyone in the world to track the progress of her reconstruction.

All on board have been rescued by a Hellenic Coast Guard Helicopter. A major tragedy for the Superyacht industry but a special praise has to go out to the emergency response teams involved for their life saving heroics.

Mariotti Yachts Project "GEO"

Italian shipyard Mariotti Yachts, has combined its heritage, knowledge and skills to create the GEO project, a 55m (180ft) expedition style Superyacht with strong muscular lines that are combined with a modern Italian style to give us this modern day explorer. President of Mariotti Yachts Marco Bisango was quoted saying that,

“GEO is a world first, breaking new boundaries in every respect. With the unrivalled build quality of an ocean-going cruise ship capable of carrying 12 guests at a cruising speed of 14 knots, and a design that beautifully captures the spirit of an explorer vessel, GEO is the ultimate fusion of form and function.”

The interior and exterior was designed by Luca Dini, with the interior having a contemporary style using high-quality, traditional materials. Oak and light-lacquered wood creates fine detailing on the walls, while sumptuous floorings and a luxurious blend of wengé furniture transforms the saloon into a modern sanctuary.

One of the yachts main features is the innovative design of the indoor- outdoor area on the upper deck that has never been seen before on a Superyacht. The 22-metre long flybridge is generously covered with a high-performance aluminium roof and features electric sliding windows to create a seamless transformation.

GEO will be able to accommodate 12 guests that include 3 double cabins and 2 twin cabins forward on the main deck and then the owners suite which is located aft of the bridge. She will have a crew of 13 and a maximum speed of 16kts with a range of 5,000nm while at a cruising speed of 14kts.

Superyachts in Lanzarote for RC 44 Event

Two Superyachts were spotted attending the RC 44 sailing event in Lanzarote last week, the first event of the season for these high performance racing boats. The Superyachts that were spotted were Heesen's 55m (180ft) Quinta Essentia and Royal Husiman's 49m (160ft) Ketch Kamaxitha. This leads to speculation that the owners of these Superyachts enjoy high performance sailing in the RC 44 Class as well as they enjoy relaxing on their yachts. McDiarmid Design's New 87m "Iwana"

This is the stunning and modern new 3D design from British designer Alex McDiarmid, who is based in the south of France. Following on from the international media coverage generated by the Iwana 85m concept in 2011 and the success at the Monaco Yacht Show the project has now been taken into 3D and has an extra 2ft, showing a fresh thinking approach to the styling of the 87m (288ft) Superyacht while maintaining a classic bow shape. The Iwana project was inspired by marine iguanas, lizards and water dragons and these inspirations can be seen throughout the yacht especially in the windows and angled lines through the superstructure.

The superstructure integrates a full length, panoramic roof window running over the yacht. This incorporates a solar panel system in the "Magic Smart Glass". All of the glass used on the yacht is electronically and colour switchable for instant privacy, sun/glare protection and visual entertainment. The huge usage of glass windows throughout this yacht will let large amounts of natural light to enter the decks and emphasize the interior design.

To maximise the aft deck space the hull opens into two fold down, role out and wrap around swimming platforms/beach clubs that can be seen in the below image. The inspiration for this feature came from the sun loving, lizards in hot tropical countries that have frill and hood expanding necks. The platforms incorporate part of the aft hull windows that turn into a partial glass bottomed floor allowing guests to see the marine life and habitats in the turquoise waters below.

The main deck will consist of a social and relaxation area and an aft swimming pool that has spectacular views of the sea and surrounding area for guests. There will be a jacuzzi located on the owners private dinning deck which also has plenty of room for dinning guests and the upper most deck has a private retreat area for the owner in addition to the private dinning deck.

The aft garage will include water toys such as tenders, wave runners, sea scooters, windsurfers, kayaks, waterskis, wake boards and a whole range of scuba and fishing gear. These custom tenders and toys are under development to match the exterior styling of the yacht.

Trinity Yachts First Launch of 2012, 164ft "Tsumat"

Trinity Yachts in Gulfport, Mississippi launched their first yacht of 2012 last week, the stunning two-toned Tsumat a 164ft tri-deck custom built superyacht with aluminum hull and superstructure. Tsumat is the stuff dreams are made of for her owner, a repeat Trinity customer whose family has enjoyed yachting for many years. From her layout which includes six staterooms and a tender garage, allowing for an oversized sundeck compete with workout stations and ample relaxation options. Tsumat is intended to provide all the functions needed for her active owners family and their guests.

Her stunning exterior lines are the work of Trinity's in house team and the interior was designed by J.C. Espinosa of Espinosa Inc. The main deck has wonderful open spaces in the main and dining saloons which include seating for up to 12 guests, a complete bar and wine cellar, a spacious galley with island bar seating for enjoying the preparation of elegant cuisine and a full beam al fresco lounge.

One of her main features include a massive sundeck with hot tub, bar, dining for eight, quad chaise lounging, treadmills, weights, twin sun pads and still room for the rescue tender. She will be able to accommodate 12 guests in 6 cabins that include the owners master suite which is forward on the main deck with a study and his and her bathrooms, two queen and two twin suites amidships on the lower deck and the fifth guest cabin is on the pilothouse deck which features breathtaking views of the surrounding area. She will be run by a crew of 11 and have a maximum speed of 22.5kts, or a range of 3,700nm at a cruising speed of 10kts.

36.4m "Lars" Designed by Felix Buytendijk is Launched

On a bitterly cold day last week the 36.4m Lars was launched at the Neptune Shipyards in Holland, where the shipyard have converted her into a luxury expedition yacht with the help of Felix Buytendijk Yacht Design who took the job of the interior and exterior design . She started life in 1995 as an ice classed sea going tug built by the Dutch shipyard Made but was never completed. The shipyard and designers great teamwork along with the owners ambition have given this rugged tug "lars" a new lease of life to begin a lifetime of exploration and adventure.

She will be delivered to her owners in March 2012 and leave for her maiden voyage to Spitsbergen an island in the Svalbard archipelago in Norway in April 2012. She will remain in Northern waters afterwards and will be available for charter.

The major changes that she encountered during her conversion was the addition of a swimming platform aft and a re-designed superstructure that incorporates a sun deck. She will be able to accommodate 8 guests in the owners master suite and three guest cabins, and she will be managed by a crew of 5. She will have a speed of 13kts and a range of 6420nm at 10kts.

Ruea Yachts New 60m & 75m Designs

Ruea Yachts is a Thailand based shipyard established in 2001, specialising in newly built luxury yachts. Ruea Yachts is a devision of Yacht Solutions who are a respected marine consultancy operating in Thailand with a Western management team and a skilled and experienced local workforce. With the combination of the best of European marine technology and design with the renowned finishing skills and attention to detail of their Thai craftsmen, Ruea Yachts have produced two designs for a 60m and a 75m mega yacht. When these yachts go into production the Thai craftsmen will be able to turn their attention to the finishing and detail.

Ruea 60m

The Ruea 60m is a very elegant yacht with smooth flowing lines from the bow right through the staggered decks to the aft of the yacht. The interior and exterior was designed by Design Unlimited in the UK, who have included large hull windows forward on the main deck so that more natural light enters the yacht to give a bright and spacious feel. The yachts exterior features will include an aft tender garage and a beach club with a bar, sea terrace, jacuzzi, a 3.5m swimming pool located aft on the first deck and the option of having a helicopter touch pad on the bow.

She will be able to accommodate up to 12 guests including the owner in 6 cabins, 2 double cabins with shower rooms en suite on the lower deck, 3 double cabins en suite 1 with a private balcony on the main deck and the owners master suite (see image below) on a private deck which includes a lobby, stateroom with en suite, sauna, saloon and external deck with jacuzzi. She will have a crew of 14 who's cabins are situated on the lower deck apart from the captains cabin aft of the wheel house. She will have a maximum speed of 16kts with MTU's and 16.7kts with CAT engines.
Ruea 75m

The Ruea 75m is ready for exploration and the worlds Oceans, this is shown in her strong bold exterior lines that were designed by Design Unlimited in the UK. Some of her external features include a tender and jetski garage, beach club, jacuzzi, GYM, sauna and a helicopter landing pad with a below deck garage that can be seen in the above image.

She will be able to accommodate up to 12 guests including the owner in 6 cabins, 2 double cabins with shower rooms en suite, 3 double cabins en suite, and the owners master suite forward on the main deck (see image below) that includes a studio, private balcony and his and hers walk in wardrobes. She will be run by a crew of 18 on her around the world expeditions.

With the choice of MTU or CAT engines she will have a maximum speed of 17.7kts with the MTU engines or 17.4kts with the CAT engines.

The Superyacht Challenge Regatta took place from the 27th-29th of January in Antigua. Some of the worlds most prestigious Superyachts attended this 3 days regatta, which included the 180ft ketch Marie, the 140ft ketch Rebecca and the181ft twin masted schooner Adela, just to name a few. A total of 11 yachts took part in this years event that will hopefully grow in the next few years and attract more of the worlds Superyachts. The final results can be seen below.

The First Sight of Heesen's New 65m Hull "YN 16465"

The construction of the hull and superstructure of YN 16465 started in December 2011 at Hessen's facility in Oss, and marked the start of years of planning. Frank Laupman from Omega Architects, who are responsible for the exterior design, was delighted:

"Being able to see the joining of the hull and superstructure is a great thing for me - who drew the first sketch that was just some 40cm long. Today I can finally see that the lines I sketched on paper more than two years ago, work in reality."

YN 16465 has the revolutionary Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) that was developed by Van Oossanen and Associates. The interior of YN 16465 has been designed by Dickie Bannenberg of Bannenberg and Rowell Design and he is very impressed by the precision and teamwork that has gone into the yacht;

"Looking at the metal work you can sense the precision at the yard and see the results of immaculate teamwork. Even sitting in the water in bare metal, the yacht exudes speed and intent. We can't wait for our interior to go in."

YN 16465 is now in the outfitting stage in the enlarged and renewed dry dock in shed no.5 at the Heesen facility in Oss, the Neatherlands. She is scheduled for delivery in june of 2013. She will be able to accommodate 12 guests and have a crew of 13, with a maximum speed of 27kts and a range of 4,500nm at 14kts.

Armed Guards To Protect UK Ships

On the 30th of October 2011 British Prime Minister David Cameron announced that ships sailing under the British flag will be able to carry armed guards to protect them from pirates, 49 vessels were hijacked off the coast of Somalia last year. Up to 200 vessels flying the red ensign (the British merchant navy flag) regularly sail close to the coast of Somalia and it is thought that many British registered vessels already carry armed guards because they feel that they have no alternative.

Mr Cameron was asked if he was comfortable with giving private security operatives the right to "shoot to kill" if necessary, and told BBC One's Andrew Marr Show: "We have to make choices.

Heesen Yachts Hand Over 55m "Serenity"

The Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts have delivered their largest displacement vessel to date. MY Serenity 55m (180ft), launched last December in Oss the Netherlands has been under going intensive sea trials in the rough waters of the North Sea. Hans Doodkorte, Owner's technical manager said;

"We had a typical winter sea trial on the North Sea with force 6-7 winds and 3m swells. It was commented by all onboard how well the boat handled in a big sea. She easily exceeded her design speed so overall I am very happy that we will deliver a yacht that will be well suited for world traveling as she was designed for."

Serenity's elegant exterior lines and her interior design were drawn by the creative pencil of Frank Laupman from Omega Architects. Galileo G is the second boat launched in the Vitruvius Series by Picchiotto & Perini Navi Group. Galileo G is 183ft which is slightly larger the the first yacht Exuma 164ft, which was launched in this series. Galileo G stands out which her two tone paint job with a dark blue hull with white decks makes her a very sleek and stylish yacht (very Italian looking yacht).

The Burger 97, "A Familiar Design with a Modern Twist"

The Burger Boat Company have teamed up with top designers Vripack to come up with their modern 97ft mega yacht. From looking at the above image you can see the classic Burger style that they have had success with over the years, but it has been modernised with smooth lines and large windows in the hull to bring the yacht into the now modern world. The team have created a simple but effective, classic modern mega yacht.

The interior of the Burger 97 is very typical of a family yacht. A fully equipped VIP area is situated in the forepeak of the lower deck, with its own private entrance from the main deck. She will be able to accommodate 6 guests on the lower deck in a full beam owners cabin directly behind the VIP area with his and hers bathrooms, and two guest cabins amidships. The crew accommodation and living area which has a private entrance from the main deck is aft on the lower deck.

The main deck contains the living area which is divided into spacious indoor and outdoor areas,
a country style kitchen and an office. There is plenty of room for a jacuzzi and tender/jet ski storage on the flybridge deck.

Heesen Yachts Launch 44m "Lady L"

Heesen Yachts launched their eighth vessel in the successful 44m all aluminium class on the 13th of January 2012 at their facility in Oss, Netherlands. The yacht, formerly project Zentric was christened MY "Lady L" at the launch by her new and proud owner.

The Heesen hull form is unique, and quite simply no other yacht shape can so effectively optimise the way a yacht moves through the water, this is down to building in aluminium to enormously demanding tolerances. Lady L will be able to reach speeds of 25kts, making her the fastest 44m yacht on the market. Heesen have designed Lady L to maximise the amount of deck space available, this is shown in the 45sqm sun deck. Other outside areas include the main and upper aft decks where guest can enjoy alfresco dining or relaxing in the shade, and a large seating area forward on the foredeck where guests can catch the suns ray's. Frank Laupman from Omega Architects designed the interior where pale woods and fabrics emphasise light and space.
Lady L will be able to accommodate 10 guests in 5 cabins. The full beam master suite is situated on the main deck and includes a study and full beam his and hers marble bathroom. Two double and two twin cabins, all with ensuite marble bathrooms are located on the lower deck.

New Moonen 100' Expedition Yacht

Moonen Shipyards in the Netherlands are making excellent progress with their new build the Moonen 100ft explorer, which is for a repeat client who wishes to explorer the world in style and comfort.

Vripack and Moonen Shipyards have teamed up in the design and engineering of this pocket explorer, with Vripack responsible for the design, naval architecture, engineering and interior design, while Moonen takes care of the detail and interior engineering. The hull and superstructure are built and the outfitting is scheduled to start in February of this year with a launching date in the spring of 2013.

The Moonen 100 will travel exceptionally long distances with her new owners so Vripack have designed her with high levels of fuel-efficiency that will increase her range, reduce costs and minimise the yachts environmental impact. This has been achieved by her efficient hull shape, bulbous bow and efficient propellers and engine that give her a range of 5,000nm at 10kts. She will have three large suites for the owner and guests giving extra comfort on the long trips and a gym in the lazarette for guests to keep in shape. If keeping in shape isn't for them then they can relax on the sundeck, on sun beds or in the jacuzzi.

For those of you planning to visit the Dusseldorf Boat Show (Boot Dusseldorf) that started yesterday running until the 29th of January, the model of the Moonen 100 will be on display at Vripack's booth, Hall 07A No. F24.

Codecasa's Double Construction

Horizon Launches New Expedition Yacht EP148

The Horizon Group launched their new expedition Mega Yacht project name EP148 into the Horizon marina testing field on Thursday, January 12th 2012. Under a surveyor watch, the yacht will complete a series of tests and classification sea trials that include a 6 day continuous cruise through the rough seas around Taiwan.

The EP148 is 148ft in length and has a beam of 29ft, she will be Horizon's largest yacht to date and the largest privately owned yacht built in Asia as well as their flagship of the EP series which include the EP69, EP77 and the EP110. She is the product of more than two years of extensive collaboration between MTD in Russia who handled the hull and structural design, interior consultant Brigit Schannse of Germany, U.S. designer J.C Espinosa and the Horizon R&D team, showing it was truly a global project.

The EP148 will be able to accommodate 10 guests in five staterooms, and have a crew of 10. There will be plenty of storage space for tenders and water toys in the aft garage and forward in the bow davit. With a fully-displayed hull, she can cruise at a speed of 9.5kts with a range of 4,200nm. She will be available for delivery in April of this year, and she will make her official debut at Horizon's Open House in June in Taiwan.

This new sleek and innovative design launches the next generation of Sunseeker yachts. The most noticeable feature in the exterior design is the is the main deck windows, these windows are the full height of the main saloon and are pillarless. The windows wrap around the sides to merge with the aft deck doors, guests can enjoy great panoramic views from inside the saloon with these new style windows.

A Misha Merzliakov Design 52m "Eva"

The above image was Misha Merzliakov's entry for the Young Designer of the Year Awards 2011, its a 52m (170ft) Powercat Eva, and took Misha Merzliakov to the finals. Misha is one of the top designer prospects right now and we can expect many more top class designs in the future.

Eva has perfect blend of glass and Dutch art movement inspired exterior and draws your eyes along a seemingly boundary-less mix of glass and structure with a sleek angled profile.

One of the yachts special features is the innovative bow door for vehicle and tender storage. The door can be lowered down on to a dock or a pier so that a vehicle can be driven off for use on the mainland.

The principle living areas and owners cabin face the stern with the focal point being the elevated pool area, the recreational outdoor spaces and the environment. Misha says:

"I wanted to push the boundaries of catamaran design both in arrangement and exterior."

This has definitely been shown within the design. Eva will be able to accommodate 12 guest in 1 owners cabin, 3 double guest cabins, 1 children's twin cabin and a children's double cabin. Each deck has many features which are:

Vripack & Newcastle Shipyards Combine in "Chuggaboom" Project

First thoughts when you look at this expedition yacht is "Wow", the shear size of this yacht and typical expedition style just shouts take me around the world and let me explore. Vripack and Newcastle Shipyards have combined in this project named Chuggaboom, with Vripack taking on the exterior design and the naval architecture, and the American shipyard Newcastle who are well known for their expedition yachts, taking on the construction and are progressing smoothly with the build.

Chuggaboom will be 177ft (54m) long,and have a beam of 37ft (11.50m) and a cruising speed of 12kts. Her external design and expedition style has a close resemblance to other expedition yachts in her size range such as the 184ft (56m) Pangaea, the 196ft (59m) Ulysses and the 209ft (64m) Turmoil. All of these boats have the same bold character for adventure.

Bart Bouwhuis Director of Design from Vripack said:

"This globetrotting family yacht is a true dedication to the original philosophy of our research vessel design. She is outrageously spacious and has been designed for a very experienced yachting family with the typical no-nonsense attitude we love. The New Barracuda 170ft

On the 22nd of December the Spanish design studio Barracuda Yacht Design released their drawings of their new 52m (170ft) Superyacht. The client had a long list of requirements for the designers to take into account when designing the yacht, two of the owners main requests were that that the yacht ran silently and vibration free.

First impressions of this yacht show that it is a comfortable spacious cursing yacht, but it is still very much performance orientated yacht with predicted up wind speeds of 14kts in 20kts of wind. She also has a super low resistance hull, transferable water balance and a retractable dagger-board to help reach these top up wind speeds.

The main rooms benefit from large windows that let in plenty of natural light that spreads throughout the yacht. She will be able to accommodate up to 12 guests in 1 full beam owners cabin forward on the main deck, 1 full beam VIP cabin aft on the lower deck, 4 twin cabins on the lower deck as well. She will have a crew of 12, more that the usual crew of 8 for a yacht of the size, and their spacious accommodation will be forward on the lower deck. There is a beach club/GYM with water level access on both sides amidships that keeps the guests and crew accommodation separate, see the image below

Marco Casali's New Design Kaiserwerft 75m

The Kaiserwerft shipyard have joined forces with top Italian design studio Marco Casali to produce this top class innovative modern design. This Mega Yacht has very strong lines that resemble an expedition style yacht and has a overall length of 75m (246ft).

The main concepts that were taken into account by the design team were to have internal and external design relationships, to have a private spaces, and a private harbor which is nestled in the aft of the yacht, which creates a private area for friends tenders or a private pool area for guest that are relaxing at the beach club.

Some of the other features that this yacht boasts include a sauna, two massage rooms, gymnasium, glass swimming pool, two Jacuzzis, a heli-pad and a large beach club. She will be able to accommodate a total of 16 guests and 21 crew, and the guests will be accommodated in 6 staterooms all of which have a private terrace and the owners master cabin and the VIP cabin also include private jacuzzi's and sofa sunpad's.

She will run on twin 2680hp MTU M61 engines which will give her a range of 6,500 nautical miles at a speed of 14.5kts and a max speed of 16kts. She is due to start construction in April 2012 with a completion date of 2015.

RMK Marine Launch 45m Mega Yacht

On the 10th of December 2011 RMK Marine launched the newest addition to their Mega Yacht fleet the RMK 4500, which as suggested in the production name its 45m (147ft) in length. The yacht was designed by Ron Holland Design, and the above picture shows their usage of elegant flowing lines that they used in producing this superb yacht.

The RMK 4500 over the next few months will undertake sea trials and systems testing so that is it ready for the 2012 Mediterranean season. It was announced at the 2011 Monaco Yacht Show that she would be sale for €19 million and is now waiting a new owner. She will be able to accommodate 12 guests and 11 crew in comfort during long distance cruising, and will feature a private owners deck which will include a full beam owners master cabin and a studio.

A spokesman for RMK Marine said "You can now see the wealth of details and features on board that separate this yacht from others on the market."

The RMK 4500 will definitely live up to her image in been one of the most elegant Mega Yachts in the Mediterranean in 2012.

Arcadia Transits the Northwest Passage

On September 26th 2011 the Royal Huisman built 36m (118ft) explorer yacht Arcadia completed her east to west transit of the infamous Northwest Passage, she was only the 159th vessel to do so in the 108 years since records started.

The yachts exterior was designed by Tony Castro and her interior decor was designed by the renowned Rhoades Young Design studio. She was always seen by her owner as a globe-trotting gentleman’s yacht with the ability to go anywhere in comfort and style, this is shown through her classy exterior lines.

She departed from Christianshab, Greenland, on the 2nd of September, Arcadia crossed the Baffin Sea to Pond Inlet where she commenced her transit on the 5th of September. Under the command of Captain James Pizzaruso, Arcadia’s owner and guests experienced a stunning passage that included numerous polar bear sightings, fine and challenging weather and some exhilarating shore-side hiking. Arcadia covered a total of 3,278 nautical miles, of which 1,587 were completed between Ilulissat and Cambridge Bay, and a further 1,691 between Cambridge bay and Nome, Alaska. The route from Pond Inlet took in Bylot Island, Devon Island, Prince Leopold Island, Fort Ross (Somerset Island), through Bellot Strait to Jenny Lind Island, Cambridge Bay (Victoria Island) and on to Nome Island via Banks Island, Beaufort Sea, Chukchi Sea and Bering Sea.

Arcadia can accommodate 10 guests and a crew of 7, who will be most likely taking on some more world adventures after getting the taste for exploration/adventure in completing the Northwest Passage.

Horizon Launches 120ft "Muses"

For those of you who don't know much about this Taiwanese Yard, they were founded in 1987, Horizon yachts is one of the world's largest top 10 luxury motoryacht builders. Popular models range from 46ft up to 163ft which include, mega yachts, catamarans, expedition yachts, sportfishers and solar-powered yachts.

On December 7th 2011, Horizon announced the launch of RP120 "Muses", the second mega yacht above 100ft that Horizon has sold to China this year, she has just completed her sea trials at Kaohisung in Taiwan. Muses is the third Horizon yacht in the RP120 series to be launched and will grace the waters of China as the leader of new mega yachts in mainland China.

Dixon and Freivokh Combine in "Mantis 80m" Design

Two of the worlds top yacht designers have combined on this project of the Mantis 80m, a spectacular Superyacht of stunning design with an overall length of 82.5m (270ft). Perini Navi Sell's Contract for 69m

The Perini Navi Group have just sold their third contract of the 2011 year, its for hull number one in their new 69m (226ft) series of superyachts. When completed in 2015 this yacht will be the second largest in the Perini Navi fleet, falling behind the Maltese Falcon in first.

The yacht is designed and created by the Perini Navi Group with additional consulting from top yacht designer Philippe Briand and is the latest expression of the high standards of design, technology and quality that have always been a feature of Perini Navi yachts. The Italian way in elegance and comfort at the highest levels possible are just some of the elements that have allowed the Perini Navi Group to distinguish itself in the years and successfully confirm the value of its brand.

The interior layout has been designed by the Perini Navi Design Office and will be completed with the help of the American interior design studio PH Design.

At the end of 2011 the Perini Navi Groups orders will amount to 170 million Euro, with 6 yachts sold and under construction. It seems like it has been a good year for the Group.

Royal Huisman's New Orders

Royal Huisman announced in September two important new projects in collaboration with the renowned Dutch naval architect Andre Hoek, that are currently in progress. Hoek and his design team are responsible for the exterior styling as well as the naval architecture and, together with the yard, the structural design of these projects.

Classic Pilot Ketch

The first project is a 46m (151ft) Classic Pilot Ketch with a project number of 392, this Classic Pilot Ketch has been highly optimised for performance. Her long waterline, lifting keel with trim tab and carbon spade rudder are complemented by a powerful, fully-roached sail plan supported by a complete carbon fibre rig package. Bilgin's New 50m Concept Design

Trinity Yachts launched their largest Mega Yacht to date at their facility in Gulfport, Mississippi, with a length of 242ft (73.8m) New Horizon is the largest built American Mega Yacht of 2011. She has 6 decks and a fully displacement steel hull, Trinity Yachts have had a remarkable year launching 3 Mega Yachts (New Horizon, Lady Linda, and Areti) and delivering 2 (Carpe Diem and Falcon) showing that they are the top yacht builder in the U.S.

New Horizon's interior was artfully designed by Evan Marshall, and with a beam of 40.9ft and the volume of 6 decks allows her to, by nature, lets her represent the very finest aspects of superyachting. Her main deck features a luxurious aft entertaining area, huge salon and dining area, full beam master stateroom with office, study, his and hers ensuite with wardrobes. Jade Yachts Launch Pocket Explorer "Smiling T"

Jade Yachts was started in 2004 as a subsidiary company of the Taiwan based shipbuilding company Jong Shyn to construct super & mega yachts.

This is the newest Pocket Explorer to splash into the worlds water, in a ceremony earlier last week (29th November 2011) Jade Yachts launched and christened their newest in their 90 series Smiling T. This project was sold and managed by Ocean Independence, the contract was singed at the Monaco yacht show in 2010 to a Swiss owner. Smiling T's exterior is the work of exterior designer JC Espinosa based in Fort Lauderdale and engineered by the Jade shipyard, the yacht was built to B.V classification and the owner might have her ready for charter for 2012. She is a fully displacement yacht with a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, with a top speed of 13kts and a cruising speed of 11kts.

She has 4 decks which include 1 master suite and 3 guest cabins, accommodating 8 guests in total. One of the guest cabins can be used as a gym by folding up the beds into the wall. There will be a tender, a jet ski and a jacuzzi on board for the guests to enjoy. She has a large interior volume perfect for guest entertainment and dinning.

Mega Technica Shipyard Complete Two 50m Hull's

Mega Technica is based in the Perama Ship Repair Zone in Greece, and is active in the area of ship repairing, conversion, refurbishment and new construction in mega yachts.The shipyard has 600m2 of covered spaces and can take mega yachts and ships of up to 95m and a weight of 1,500tn on their dry dock.

The yard was contracted for the building of the Hull (Ice Class) and the aluminum Superstructure for two similar mega yachts of the Cosmo-Explorer 50 type based on the owners design and in accordance with ABS rules and regulations, with the following characteristics:

Bilgin Yachts Dry Launch New 40m

The Turkish shipyard Bilgin Yachts have just recently dry launched their new innovative 40m (132ft) yacht. This project was a combined effort with H2 yacht designs who were responsible for the exterior and interior design. The exterior shows sharp and clean flowing lines with her most noticeable feature the X-bow. This bow resembles similar bows on other mega yachts such as Feadships Predator and Blohm & Voss's A. Her interior is fresh and modern without being too minimal, combining the rich maccasser and zebrano woods with warm leathers and fabrics.

She will be able to accommodate 8 guests in 1 mater cabin forward on the main deck, 1 VIP and 2 guest cabins on the lower deck. She will have a crew of 6 with 3 crew cabins in the bow and a captains cabin aft of the bridge. She will have a max speed of 21kts and a cruising speed of 17kts. First Race, First Win for 60m Hetairos

The beautiful 197ft Hetairos, project Panamax that was launched during the summer in Finland from the Baltic yard has just won the Transatlantic Superyacht Regatta. This is the yachts first race and they have crossed the line in first place, not a bad way to start the superyacht racing season.

The Regatta was from the island of Tenerife in the Canary islands to Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, a total mileage of around 2,600nm. Hetairos finished the race in a super fast time of 8 days:10 hrs:58 min:30sec.

Tansu Yachts and Diana Design Combine on 34m "Only Now"

Tansu Yachts and Diana Yacht Design have teamed up together to design Only Now a 34m expedition style yacht. Diana Yacht Design will be the naval architects in this project and Tansu Yachts will be the exterior styling and the build yard. Tansu Yachts have built the recently sold Nomade which is 36m, slightly larger than Only Now.

Only Now is what you would call rough but modest and sturdy but elegant, and waiting to explore the world oceans. She has the same distinctive modern and angled beautiful exterior look that's seen on Nomade. This is a characteristic of the yachts produced by the Tansu yard. With her wooden hull and superstructure she can glide through the water at a maximum speed of 22kts.

ADM Shipyards Launch "Yas" Project Swift 141

ADM Shipyards in Abu Dhabi launched Yas formally project swift 141 last week. Yas enters the list of the worlds largest privately owned yachts at number 6, measuring in at a length of 462ft (141m). Her interior and exterior design was the work of the Pierrejean Design Studio in Paris, with a strikingly graceful exterior of fluid curves and volumes, and a spectacular structural covering of glass. She will have a cruising speed of 20kts and a max speed of 26kts, quite amazing for a yacht of this size and volume. Her fast speeds are down to her fast hull shape which was adapted from an old UAE navy frigate. Her superstructure is the largest composite object of its kind ever built.

She can accommodate 60 guest comfortably on board, where they will be able to enjoy this spectacular yacht. This yacht has broken all the boundaries in yacht construction and design, and pushed the bar so high that it will be hard for other shipyards to reach. At the recent launching ceremony, Johan Valentijn, Privinvest Executive Board member and Industrial Manager in charge of the project said:

Trinity Yachts Launch "Lady Linda"

Trinity Yachts have just announced the launch of their newest yacht the 187ft Lady Linda.

Lady Linda is a tri-deck, semi-displacement custom built aluminum superyacht. She has the smooth lines and distinct look that are a trademark of the Trinity yard. The owner requested that the yacht have a shallow draft for cruising shallower waters like the Bahamas and as a result of this she has a draft of 2.4m usually not seen on yacht of this size.

The owner selected Evan Marshall of London for the interior design and she has come up with a luxurious contemporary design throughout the yacht. Some of the yachts main features include a gym aft of the pilot house, a skylounge and a large bar and seating on the partially enclosed flybridge which also has a touch and go helipad. Technology can be seen throughout Lady Linda in auto lifting television systems, surround sound systems and an integrated computer system.

She can accommodate 12 guests in 6 cabins, 4 of which are amidships on the lower deck, the gym can double up as a guest cabin if needed and then the owners full beam masters suite which is forward on the main deck and includes a jacuzzi, his and her showers and an office.

Lady Linda will have a max speed of 20kts and will have a range of 4,361nm at a speed of 10kts. She is due to be delivered in early 2012.

The International SeaKeepers Society

The International SeaKeepers Society is a non-profit organization of international opinion leaders dedicated to the protection, preservation and restoration of our oceans through the collection and distribution of oceanographic and atmospheric data.

The organization was founded in 1998 by a small group of yacht owners who were horrified by the deteriorating conditions of the seas. Their goal was to develop a compact, automated and cost effective ocean and atmospheric monitoring system that they could install on their yacht to help provide valuable data to scientists on the health of the worlds oceans. This was a genius idea because usually this data can only be obtained from research vessels. With their mega yachts traveling to remote places of the globe they could now provide valuable data from places not usually visited by research vessels.

The system is called the SeaKeeper 1000 is now installed in more than 45 locations around the world including yachts, cruise ships, ferry's, buoys and piers. It is endorsed by the United Nations and the World Meteorological Organization. NOAA and the U.S National Weather Service continue to purchase the SeaKeeper 1000 for their vessels.

One of the SeaKeepers yachts is the well traveled 147ft Big Fish owned by Hong Kong based businessman Richard Beattie. The yacht has traveled the South Pacific, Atlantic, Med, Antarctica and South America collecting some valuable data while on its journeys.

The system can be installed on your yacht for around 30,000 dollars and then an annual calibration of the system for 10,000. The system is housed in what looks like a large electrical breaker box and while you are enjoying your travels and holiday you are all the time contributing to protecting the wolds oceans.

"EOS" The Worlds Largest Sailing Yacht

Eos is the worlds largest sailing yacht measuring in at a staggering 92.92m (305ft). She was built by the German yard Lurssen and launched in July of 2006 and had 6 months of finishing and sea trials before it left for the Caribbean in November of that year. She is currently in Holland where she is about to go through a refit by Royal Huisman's refit section Huisfit. This picture was taken 6 weeks ago as she left Valencia, Spain on her way to Holland.

Her heavy schedule over the past 5 years has taken its toll and some of the work she will be getting done in the refit consists of:

Van Geest Design is a team of two talented, well trained professionals dedicated to all aspects of luxury yacht design and project management. The team consists of Pieter Van Geest and Tracey-Jayne Canavaggio. The office is base out of Amsterdam, Holland.

The Van Geest Design studio have recently unveiled a new 60m design which is smaller than their previous designs which include an 80m and an 85m. All of their designs are modern with a stealth like look to them.

60m It stated in the design brief that the new 60m gave a feeling of fast, performance orientated with a sporty look. The hull is smoothly tailored to revel a fully glazed superstructure. Its two tone exterior of a silver hull and a charcoal superstructure create a distinctive look that boasts a stealthy look. The yacht design is calibrated to the to the latest trends in construction technologies. This yacht is a get up and go have fun yacht.
The Lower deck includes a large lazarette to store water toys of the guest to enjoy. in the middle of the lower deck there are 4 guest cabins and a full beam VIP cabin. Forward are the crew quarters which are comfortably planned with spacious areas.

The 320m2 owners deck it above the bridge deck and includes a full beam owners suite, private balconies, 360 deg saloon, outside lounge area and access to the upper sun deck. The main entertaining areas are situated aft on the bridge deck. Forward on the bridge deck on the bow of the yacht you will find a helipad. The main deck features a lounge area and guest cabins, with a glass infinity swimming pool on the aft deck. Another feature on this yacht is the spa and wellness area on the lower deck.

Reichel & Pugh's New Design 115ft Classic Racer

Reichel & Pugh are mostly know for their excellent design in some of the worlds top racing yachts and have gained a renowned reputation in this area. Over recent times they have moved into the classic market as well to work as naval architects in projects such as the J Class yacht Ranger, a classic race that was launched in 2004. More recently they were the co-naval architects with Dykstra & Partners in the recently launched yacht Hetairos (Panamax) a classic ketch by Baltic Yachts.

Yet again Reichel & Pugh have entered the classic design market with their sleek new design for a classic racer. They wanted to recreate the classical elegance of a bygone era and combine it with modern underwater shape and appendages. This classic racer can be built for alloy or composite rigging to suit the owner, with a option of a fixed (Draft 4.80m) or lifting (Draft 4.00m - 5.50m) keel. The teak covered deck is simply laid out for ease of sail handling and racing functionality, all the winches are push button hydraulically powered for ease and simplicity.

Nearly Completed - The Wally 50m

The newest Wally that is nearing completion is the 165ft, project name the Wally 50m. Once completed this will be Wally's largest yacht to date overtaking their current largest yacht Saudade 148ft by 17ft. The Wally 50m has the classic wally look with a sharp stealthy lines and a clean deck. The cabin has similar lines an look as the cabin on the wally Ace which in currently in construction.

This yacht has plenty of deck space including on top of the cabin where the captain can take the helm while the guest enjoy relaxing in the seating area and take in the views. In the saloon she will be able to seat 16 - 18 guests around the table. The large aft deck can be used for sunbathing and also an easy way in to the water for a quick swim.

Her rig will be from Hall Spars and her rigging is Composite PBO rigging from Future Fibres and left the factory last week on its way to the yard to be attached to the mast. She will be able to accommodate 10 guests and a crew of 10.

Perini Navi Deliver New 45m Sloop "Clan VIII"

The Perini Navi Group announce the delivery of the 53rd addition to their ever growing fleet of superyachts, the 45m (148ft) Sloop Clan VIII. Clan VIII was a result of the collaboration between Perini Navi's design team and Ron Holland. She is the 4th yacht delivered in the 45m series, the other yacht in this series include Fivea, Helios and Heritage.

This sloop features a spacious flybridge and an opening stern which revels a 7sqm swimming platform. The interior was designed in house by the design team, which has a classical yet contemporary feeling. The use of ebony and teak were used to create a marine ambiance. Aquos Yachts and McMullen & Wing have teamed up again for the new construction of StarFish the big sister of their previous Mega Yacht BigFish. Aquos Yachts have just released the first renderings of the new yacht that is due for launch next year. StarFish will be 16ft bigger than BigFish at 164ft Vs 148ft respectively.

She will be similar to BigFish in looks and design and will have a lot of the features that have made BigFish stand out as such a popular yacht. These features include multiple balconies, fold down extension and large windows create an open feeling and let in natural light. Their is plenty of outdoor space on this yacht for owners and guests to enjoy alfresco dining, or relax in the pool on the aft deck. She will be able to accommodate 12 guests in 6 cabins, with the owners cabin froward on the upper deck with with wrap around windows forward that give spectacular views. She will have a range of 9200nm at a speed of 8kts. Hopefully the owner of this new yacht will follow in the footsteps of BigFish and use the yacht to its exploration capabilities.

OCEA Yachts Deliver 155ft "Elisabet"

OCEA Yachts have recently delivered their newest yacht Elisabet 155ft to her new owner from their yard in Les Sables d'Olonne in France. The yacht was launched in June and it is from the yards commuter series. After the yacht was delivered to its owner in October it has left France and headed to the Med, possibly for the winter season or just a short visit.

Elisabet was designed by the naval architect office Joubert Nivelt. She was designed for extended cruises to the most secluded places of the world and exploration. She has a re-enforced hull for ice navigation and a helipad on the aft deck, a true explorer. Elisabet will have a range of 4,500nm at a speed of 10kts, a cruising speed of 15.5kts and a max speed of 17kts. Her accommodation will hold 10 guests in 5 cabins which include, the owners stateroom which is forward on the main deck and 4 guest cabins. She will also have a crew of 10.

Elisabet is a modern explorer with smooth classic lines.

New Build For Alloy Yachts "Mondango II"

Alloy Yachts in New Zealand have again been chosen to construct the successor yacht to the current 169ft Mondango which was launched in 2008. The new yacht will slightly bigger in length at 185ft and will be called Mondango II when it is launched in 2013. Currently her project name is AY46 at the yard.

The owners have again brought together the same team that designed their previous yacht. The interior will be designed by Reymond Langton and the exterior will be designed by the renowned Dubois Naval Architects.

She will be able to accommodate 11 guests in 5 cabins 3 double cabins, 2 twin cabins one with a pullman berth all ensuite and a crew of 10 in 6 ensuite cabins. Her max speed under motor will be 14kts with a cruising speed of 12kts and she will have a range of 6,500nm at a speed of 10kts. Some of her unique features will be a swing down centerboard to keep the draft at 4m, Twin sub-deck tender wells and an aft deck spa pool.

Working Together Egg & Dart and ISA

The above design is the collaboration of Egg & Dart Design with ISA Yachts. Egg & Dart have come up with the interior and exterior design, and ISA will be constructing the 58m 190ft expedition mega yacht which will have the project name Ranger during construction. She is a modern day explorer with sharp lines that show her exploring potential. The owners main principle for the yacht was to build a functional yacht with the highest safety standards and comfort. Ranger is made for serious exploration with on board luxury and lifestyle.

Some of the yachts main features are on the bridge and observation deck which include a research area and office, a library and seating area next to the wheelhouse, a whale watching station, inside and outside observation areas. Equipment such as sport fishing chairs, diving equipment, Helicopter, ATVs and skidoos for access to all the snow covered areas that will be explored. With all these vehicles and different areas on the yacht the owner and guests will be playing an active role when exploring the globe.

Egg & Dart and ISA have been consulting with industry leaders in marine propulsion units to be able to make transport eco-friendly. Also every effort is been made to ensure that the materials used for the interior are from sustainable sources. This yacht will be a green explorer of the world.

She will be able to accommodate 12 guests in 6 cabins and will have a crew of 16. Her max speed will be 16.5kts and will have a range of 6,000nm while traveling at 14kts.

Mega Yacht "Anemos" Heads For a Re-fit

Anemos is a 34m 112ft luxury mega yacht that was built in 1999 by Nautors Swan. German Frers are the masters behind the design and also co-designed the interior with the help from Nauta Yachts. She can accommodate up to 6 guests and has a crew of 4 to attend to there needs. This is a very comfortable yacht to sail and handles well while sailing at a steady 13kts up wind. Her handling and sailing will improve drastically after her carbon rigging re-fit.

Anemos's mast and rig was lifted last week in Valencia Spain for the start of her winter re-fit. Her old rod rigging will be replaced by Future Fibres new RDS carbon system. The mast and spreaders headed back to the Future Fibres factory where the work will get underway to re-fit the mast, boom, spreaders for the new rigging. With the weight of the rod rigging removed and replaced by carbon her performance will improve drastically. The removal of this weight will add weight to the keel which will improve handling, rolling and anchoring.

Later that day she headed back to Palma without her mast and rigging for the winter. In Palma she will get a new teak deck and a few other modifications and upgrades will happen before she travels back to Valencia in the spring for her new rig. Heesen's New 50m Build Confirmed

Heesen Yachts have just announced the sale of there newest yacht a 164ft based on the revolutionary fast displacement hull from (FDHF) by Van Oossanen and Associates. This mega yacht will be delivered in 2015 and during her construction she will be known as project YN 16750.

Due to her unique and revolutionary hull she will be able to reach a max speed of 18.5kts with only two 1,000Kw MTU's installed. She will be fuel efficient and for a comfortable Atlantic crossing it will take only 45,000 liters of fuel. The owner has commissioned Laupman from Omega Architects and AB studios to design the exterior and the general arrangement. Her clean and striking lines are emphasized by contrasting bands of wraparound glass windows. The interior will be cosy and inviting with swamp oak and dark coloring.

She will be able to accommodate 10 guests in 5 cabins. The master suite is 61 square meters and has two dressing rooms and with bathrooms. the other cabins consist of 2 VIP cabins and 2 twin cabins. These cabins are located on the lower deck and will all have en suite bathrooms. Beyond the cabins the guests will be able to enjoy 237 square meters of outdoor living space to relax and entertain. The yacht also has a 21 square meter beach club that incluedes a sauna and a hammam.

Northern Marine's New 85ft Expedition Yacht

Northern Marine have just signed the deal to start construction of their newest project. With a very distinct red hull the owner's choice of name suites it perfectly. This "Pocket Explorer" is 85ft long and is called Blood Baron. This is one of the tidiest and most stylish yachts in this class range and will certainly turn heads around the world where ever it goes.

The owner decided that he wanted a larger yacht that could circumnavigate the globe. The search fell to the hands of his captain Aaron Pufal, to find a expedition yacht that could provide the range needed with a small crew. Aaron says that:
"the search process was like a jigsaw puzzle and ultimately pointed towards Northern Marine"

With an extended superstructure this brings the pilot house aft to create a large panoramic sky lounge. Blood Baron will feature Voluminous interior similar to that of larger motor yacht, with plenty of space for guests and owner to entertain and relax. She will be able to accommodate 8 guests in a full beam master stateroom on the main deck, a VIP stateroom with a king walk around, 2 queen guest staterooms and crew cabin on the lower deck. The scenic sky lounge on the bridge deck will include a bar and home entertainment center, with sliding doors that open aft to the alfresco dining area. The main deck features a country style kitchen and dining area and a spacious saloon aft.

She will have a max speed of 12kts and a cruising speed of 10kts with a range of 5,000nm. Blood Baron will be launched in the summer of 2013.

New Design from Moore Yacht Design

Moore Yacht Design and Oceanco has collaborated on a modern innovative design for an 85.75m (281ft) Mega Yacht. The preliminary engineering studies are currently under way. One of the objectives of this design was to make a yacht that has exceptional exterior design, original looking that will make a statement in any harbour it enters. The simple, non-fussy nature of this design gave the yacht clean and crisp lines making the yacht look good either moving or docked in a harbour. Andy Moore believes that the yachts modern profile " Displays a freshness yet timeless appeal "

The principal entertaining areas are aft of the main deck where there is a unique pool with cascading waterfalls. Andy Moore's inspiration for this pool area came from -

" Firstly: looking at photographs of stately homes, many of which have spectacular water features pivotal to the garden design. Secondly it was from family holidays spent in the most beautiful natural areas of Great Britain such as the lake district, Yorkshire Dales, the Highlands and the islands of Scotland. "

There are two options for the aft pool area. The first one including a large pool and a bar that can be accessed in or out of the water. The second option is for a smaller pool with focus on more area for sunbathing seen in the pictures above.

The owner has a private deck which includes, his and her bathrooms a large suite and a lounge. The owner can also enjoy his private jacuzzi and sunbeds.

Construction starts on the Wally "Ace"

Construction is well underway at Wally for the first two hulls of the 86ft Wally Ace. The first hull is expected to be launched in March 2012 and the second later in the year. The Wally Ace is a ultra stylish and modern design which is sure to cause major attention when launched next year.

The yacht boasts huge open spaces with natural light and quality design that is hard to find in yachts of this size range. As seen in the picture above she has a upper sun deck dedicated to the sun lovers and guests that want to relax and take in the views. On the aft deck she has spacious an alfresco dining area.

The yacht will have a max speed of 12kts and a cruising speed of 10kts with a range of 2,400nm. She will be able to accommodate up to 8 guests and a crew of 4. The accommodation can be configured in two ways either with 3 cabins or with 4 cabins. The owners state room is a full beam room with access to a terrace on to the sea. See in the picture below.

Top Marina's of the Caribbean

The Caribbean season is on the way and a lot of mega yachts will be making the annual trip across the pond leaving the Med season behind them. Yachts will start to make the trip across in the next 4-5 weeks by motoring, sailing or by the use of the Dockwise Yacht Transport. The Caribbean season gets going at the end of November beginning of December just in time for all the Christmas celebrations.

Mega Yacht Global thought we would give you some information into our top choice of Marina's in the Caribbean for the 2011/2012 season. We hope that some of you get to visit some of these wonderful places that are really the best nature has to offer.

The Bitter End Yacht Club

This marina is located in the beautiful surrounding of the North Sound Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands. This little hide away is a favored spot by Superyachts, its a must stop on your travels. The Bitter End Yacht Club is world renowned for there selection of watersport activities and friendly staff. The restaurant will serve you the best food that the Caribbean has to offer and the yacht club can accommodate yachts up to 200ft+.

Atlantis Marina

Located in the Bahamas the Atlantis resort is aimed around fun and activities with its own casino, waterpark and an aquarium which two of the main water slides go through. with 33 superyacht slips and no beam restrictions for yachts up to 220ft.

Bimini Bay Resort & Marina

This marina is also located in the Bahamas and features the largest marina complex in the Bahamas boasting more than 230 slips. 96 of the 230 slips can accommodate yachts up to 210ft. This area in the Bahamas is renowned for fishing and the best fishing to do there is fly fishing for bonefish.

Jolly Harbour Marina

Jolly Harbour Marina in the island of Antigua is only minutes away from the islands white sandy beaches. This marina ca accommodate up to 9 superyachts stern too that are 200ft+. Just off the end of the dock guests can enjoy an 18 hole golf course or the white sandy beaches around the corner.

Yacht Haven Grande

Situated in the island of St Thomas in the USVIs. This marina can accommodate the biggest yachts in the world up to 656ft. There is 46 slips that a all connected to an extra wide concrete dock for easy accessibility. There is a lot of activities to do in the surrounding area including shopping and sporting activities.

Rodney Bay Marina

Rodney Bay Marina is located in the beautiful island of St. Lucia. She offers 253 slips and can accommodate yachts up to 280ft. This marina is well protected and hurricane safe for those yacht that want to stay through the hurricane season. The marina provides plenty of activities for guests, including scuba adventures and jeep safari's into the rain forests of this island. There is plenty to do and explore here on the island of St. Lucia.

Dubois New 100m Explorer Sloop

Dubois Naval Architects have finished the design of their newest creation a 100m expedition sloop. Ed Dubois was commented saying.

"We are please to announce the design contract for a 100m sloop. This will demand a 30 month design program with construction to commence mid 2013 with completion in 2016. Futher information will be available in late 2012"

This yacht will have the design number 380 and was designed for an existing client. She will have extra space dedicated to tender and equipment storage for her world travels. When launched this yacht will be one of the most spectacular privately owned yachts in history.

Ed Dubois was commented saying "We are please to announce the design contract for a 100m sloop. This will demand a 30 month design program with construction to commence mid 2013 with completion in 2016. Futher information will be available in late 2012"

She will have a mast that will tower 125m and a center board that will have a max draft of 12.8m, this just shows you the sheer size of this yacht. She will be able to accommodate a crew of 20 all in single cabins. All ready different yards have be expressing interest to under take the build of this super sized yacht. Who will get the contract for her rigging and a mast of 125m? Southern Spars, Hall Spars or Future Fibres.

Exclusive: Ken Freivokh New Designs "Fortissimo" & "Ghost "

Two new designs to come from the renowned designer Ken Freivokh and his team are the 145m Fortissimo and the slightly smaller 144m Ghost. These yacht designs are at the top level of innovative and modern design and are sure to be a major hit in the Superyacht world.

Fortissimo 145m

Fortissimo is a 145m gas turbine yacht designed specially for Fincantieri Yachts in Italy. She is a superyacht designed with total flexibility in mind. The design concept also acknowledges the tremendous power of the turbine installation, and integrates the turbine as an integral part of the total design. She has a generous amount of space and living area for such a sleek yacht, Whilst the owners can enjoy getting to their destination at a top speed in excess of 35kts. Quite an astonishing speed for a yacht of this size.

The yacht features 7 deck which include a sun deck, a high visibility and operational deck, a private owners deck, an entertainment deck with terraces both forward and aft, a guest deck with further terracing, a crew deck and a utility deck. The aft decks are particularly interesting with a see through swimming pool and jacuzzi with the glass walls forming an open feature within the main deck gym and bar.

Fortissimo will be able to accommodate up to 16 guests in 8 guest suites and will have a crew of 48 to accommodate their needs.

Ghost 144m

Ghost is a 144m sleek innovative creation and Ken's approach may be seen as stimulating unpredictability with controlled chaos yet it is totally functional. The Ghost concept similar to that of Fortissimo is one of total flexibility, where a rigid spaceframe system takes care of the torsional rigidity, and allows for large span openings. These large openings can accommodate the likes of a 50ft sportfisher tender, which on most yachts could only be a run-alongside tender or deck tender.

Ghost also boasts a number of unique features such as underwater viewing, sliding helipad platforms, opening skylights, a glass sided swimming pool, a gym, a massive atrium around one of the main structures with balconies and flying bridges linking the various spaces.

These two yachts have been designed to fit in with the forward moving world of today and will stay modern and new throughout their life on the worlds Oceans.

Seawolf 193ft World Traveller

Seawolf 193ft was launched in 1957 by the Dutch shipyard Smit J&K and was refitted in 2006. The exterior design was designed by Dbr Huisman and the interior was designed by Astilleros de Mallorca. She is a steel hull and superstructure with a beam of 37ft and a 17ft draft. She has a cruising speed of 12.4kts with a range of 32,000nm, this yacht is an explorer of the world with that mileage. One of the yachts previous names was Dolce Far Niente and the picture below is of her when she was named Dolce Far Niente. The above picture is her current name Seawolf.

She can accommodate up to 12 guests and has a crew of 14 to tend to their needs. The guests will even have the chance to do a bit of sailing when anchored with the small day sailor on the aft deck. After sailing guests can relax on the sundeck or take a dip in the jacuzzi. Seawolf is currently in the South Pacific Islands and is available for charter through Fraser Yachts at a cost of $180,000 per week.

James Bond aka (John Staluppi) is Back

The new launch from the Italian shipyard Benetti, the 200ft Diamonds are Forever is another yacht that was commissioned and owned by John Staluppi a big fan of the bond movies hence the name of his newest yacht, seen in the picture below. Some of John's other yachts include the 163ft Christensen Casino Royal and the 140ft Millennium The World is not Enough which has a staggering speed of 70kts.

Diamonds are Forever's interior was by Evan K Marshall who has also worked with Staluppi on his previous yachts. The interior blends creams and whites with dark wood to give a clean fashionable decor. An elevator links the four decks including the upper most sun deck. She will be able to accommodate 12 guests in 2 mater suites and 4 guest staterooms and will have a crew of 15. When she is officially launched she will go straight up for charter with Ocean Independence at a rate of $395,000 to $450,000 per week Low/High season in the Caribbean and a rate of $450,000 to $500,000 Low/High season in the Med. Al Mirqab

Al Mirqab 437ft was launched in 2008 by Peters Schiffbau. It took the yard 4 year to complete and she is currently ranked No. 10 in the largest privately owned yachts. The yachts exterior was by the renowned Tim Heywood and Kusch Yachts in Germany. The interior was by Andrew Winch Designs. She can accommodate 60 guests and have a crew of 60. She is owned by Qatar's prime minister and foreign minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani. Al Mirqab has a beam of 65ft showing that she has plenty of space inside. Some of her features are a heli pad, swimming pool, jacuzzi and a garage with lots of toys to entertain the guests.

Rising Sun

The Rising Sun is 452ft and was launched in 2004 by the Lurssen shipyard in Germany. This is one of the most prolific Mega Yachts in the world and is currently ranked at No. 8 in the worlds largest privately owned yachts. She is owned by the computer technology magnet Larry Ellison of Oracle computer systems. Her interior design was by the designer Laura Seccombe.

Rising Sun's most noticeable feature is the large windows that wrap around the top two decks. This will let the natural light in and give her guests great views. She is very roomy with a beam of 60ft and for a yacht of this size she is surprisingly fast with a max speed of 28kts and a cruising speed of 26kts. She can accommodate up to 16 guest and has a crew of 45. The aft deck is a heli pad but when no helicopter is present it is transformed into a basketball court, one of Larry's favorite sports. His other favorite sport is sailing and in the aft garage many laser dinghy's can be found and are used regularly for racing between the crew and owner.

Leander

Leander the 246ft yacht built by Peene-Werft and launched in 1992 but was refit in 2008 is owned by English national Sir Donald Gosling, owner of the National Car Park company. Leander is probably on of the most exquisite and well known yachts on the worlds oceans.

She can accommodate up to 16 guests in 2 double owners suites forward on the main deck, 3 double cabins and 3 twin cabins on the lower deck. She has a crew of 26 to meet the guests every needs. The yachts interior is designed to create a comfortable feeling of a home away from home, with luxurious rugs and large arm chairs in the main saloon. She has plenty of toys for the guests to use and a door in the starboard side of the hull opens for access to the water. The top deck can accommodate a helicopter if needed and the deck below has a jacuzzi for the owner and guest to relax an enjoy their surroundings.
