Fitzroy Yachts Sign A New Order For A '37.5m Sloop'

Fitzroy Yachts have just signed a new order for a 37.5m (123ft) fast cruising sloop, for first time European owners. She is going to be designed by Dubois Naval Architects and will have an interior by Design Unlimited. She will be know as project FY17 during her construction and is an all aluminum design with a fixed keel that will draw 4m (13ft).

Her most noticeable feature is her fixed bimini over the cockpit which will have mechanically operated sliding windows. The guest accommodation will include an owners cabin and two guest cabins aft of the raised saloon. Forward of the saloon there will be a 4th cabin/day room, galley and the crew quarters. You can be sure to see her on the superyacht racing scene like many of the other Fitzroy Yachts when she is launched in early 2014.

“Fitzroy Yachts is known for its award winning superyachts and we are delighted that after compiling a shortlist of some of the top builders in the world, the owner recognised Fitzroy Yachts as the best builder for the job,” said Rodney Martin, MD of Fitzroy Yachts.

The owners of FY17 are planning several visits to the yard throughout the build, and have said. “We never imagined we would build a boat, but we are enjoying the process so much we are already talking about building another”. Look out other superyachts as there may be more builds on the horizon, and more competition for racing.
