The Italian shipyard Cantiere Delle Marche from Ancona have just launched their second pocket explorer in the Darwin 86' class. Percheron as she was christened is a 26m (86ft) expedition yacht that has been built in steel and aluminum, and designed by Sergio Cutolo of Hydro Tec. She will will be presented in September at Festival de la Plaisance in Cannes and will then make her US debut at the boat shows in Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Palm Beach.After she is presented in Cannes her new owners will take her on a true exploration voyage which will start by crossing the Atlantic towards the Caribbean and then on to Florida where she will attended some boat shows. From there her real exploration starts as she heads south to the coast of Argentina and then back to the Panama Canal where she will head for the Galapagos Islands. Where she will go from there is anyone's guess, but it might be the exotic islands of the South Pacific.
She will be able to accommodate 8 guests in 4 cabins and 3 crew in 2 cabins, and have a range of 7,000nm at a speed of 8.5kts. Her maximum speed will be 11.5kts and cruising speed 10kts. We are looking forward to hearing more about this pocket explorer on her many adventures.
