Sunreef Launch New 82ft Catamaran

The new Sunreef 82 double deck hit the water last week at Sunreef's shipyard in Gdansk, Poland. Christened 'Houbara', she is the first hull in this new series and will be unveiled to the public at the Cannes boat show in September.

She is constructed out of fiberglass unlike the other double deck catamarans which are constructed out of aluminuim. Houbara will be able to accommodate 7 guests and 2-3 crew, and has been built for an owner to use privately. Within the double deck, there is a spacious owners cabin in the front that is spread out over two levels and a large, bright saloon featuring an internal helm station gives the guests pristine sea views. She is currently going through final out fitting before she hoists her sails and begins sea trials in a few weeks time. Catamarans are starting to become more and more popular for yacht owners due to there large internal volume.

Sunreef's New 85ft Power Design

Sunreef Yachts have just introduced their new design for the 85ft (26m) power which will be formally introduced during the Monaco Yacht Show in September. This modern design will bridge the gap between their successful 70ft range and their larger custom series, and will be another milestone in the world of luxury catamarans.

One thing that you can say about the ultra modern 85 is that she definitely has the WOW factor, and her design introduction will be a major hit at the Monaco Yacht Show. The main idea of this concept is to stress the large amount of space catamarans have compared to mono hulls of similar size. This means one huge deck spans the entire beam of the yacht and features a dining area, lounge areas and a saloon that all come together with the exterior aft deck to create a seamless open space. The spacious master cabin will be located forward on the main deck, just showing you the space this 85 has. The rest of the guest accommodation and crew quarters will be located on the lower decks in the hulls.

The flybridge will include the helm station and two lounging areas both inside and out, while the front outside deck includes a jacuzzi and sun pads. She will feature a beach club and swimming platform aft, which is an unusual feature to be seen on a catamaran due to the multi hull configuration. This platform will allow guests to relax at sea level while at anchor and will provide easy access to all the water toys and tender that will be stored on board.

She is a sleek modern sporty design that is sure to create a stir in the Superyacht industry when hull number 1 is launched in the future.

A Great Idea, The 33.70m Curvelle 'Quaranta'

Curvelle Yachts have come up with a fresh and great approach for owners to share Megayachts, using a syndicate style of ownership. Their first 33.70m (110ft) hull of a series is currently in build in Tuzla Turkey and will be ready for launch at the end of this year. The Quaranta as she will be called will be a catamaran which will give you more space, stability, performance and will be more environmentally friendly than your traditional monohull. Everything about quaranta has be carefully thought out to maximize internal volume and deck space.

Quaranta has four decks and a 9 meter beam. This is two meters wider on deck than what would be found on a monohull of similar size. The upper sun deck is large with space for everyone to relax, be it in the forward jacuzzi that is surrounded by sun cushions, the wet bar located on the port side, the dining area located aft under the radar and bimini roof or just soaking up the sun on the sunbeds.

The next deck down is the saloon deck and entertaining deck. The wheelhouse is located forward and behind is the saloon with seating areas, bar, and a large dining table aft for up to 12 guests. There is more seating areas out on the saloon aft deck for guest to enjoy. The main deck is where all the guest accommodation is located with over 20 different layout configurations that can be changed at a moments notice depending on the owners wishes. Curvelle have designed the cabins to be spacious and with a huge window that measures 2.75m x 0.95m. This window lets natural light enter to give a light a airy feeling, and provides fantastic views. At the Antibes Yacht Show Curvelle had a sample window of exact size on the wall and it is quite astonishing seeing the sheer size, you can just imagine waking up on anchor and looking out at a deserted tropical island.

She will be able to accommodate up to 12 guests in her 6 cabins that can be changed from a double bed set up to a single bed set up. The crew quarters are located on the lower decks in the two hulls. One great feature is the 6 meter platform on the aft deck that can be lowered to form a beach club and when raised it can be used for tender, large car or submarine storage.

Curvelle has the goal to allow owners to own a Megayacht at a reasonable price, and further down the line have a series of these wonderful yachts around the world so that owners can have the luxury of seeing the world aboard their yacht with out the time consuming issue of yacht delivery.
