Delta's Latest Project "ONIKA"

Delta have unveiled there latest project, a 40m (132ft) megayacht with a new high efficiency hull design. ONIKA is been built for repeat Delta owners, she has classic exterior lines and the warmth of a true Gentleman's yacht. The Delta design group has constructed the entire design and engineering package, that began with the challenge to design a hull for shallow draft cruising with the same capabilities as a full displacement design. Delta's Chief Naval Architect, Jay Miner comments:

"The new Delta hull design combines the best in long range passage making capability and fuel efficiency along with moderate draft to allow the owner access to the shallower water destinations that otherwise might not be accessible. In profile, the bow has a long overhang, with enough flare to keep the decks dry and present an overall classic look. Below the waterline the hull form has round bilges with a bulbous bow and long easy run to enhance comfort and reduce fuel consumption. Much attention was paid to the flow line patterns along the hull surface to ensure that all appendages were precisely aligned. The propeller tunnels are well blended into the hull, with a gentle transition resulting from studies conducted both by computational flow dynamics (CFD) as well as a traditional battery of physical model tests in a tow tank facility. The final result is a handsome design with the ability to cross oceans efficiently, in comfort and in style."

The interior on the main deck consists of cream colored marble floors with diamond shaped blue sodalite that contrast with Khaya mahogany wall panels. The owner has also added some of his antique furniture that's added an Edwardian feel.

The sun deck is a complete outdoor living space, that includes forward facing seats, a dining table for eight, a bar, a TV, as well as room for chaise lounges with an outdoor shower to cool down. A pair of tenders, 18' & 12', are stowed on the aft bridge deck, with the ability to launch from either side.

She will be able to reach a maximum speed of 16kts and will have a range of 4,000nm at 12kts. Watch this space for more images and information when she is launched during the spring.

Delta Move 66m Project 'Invader'

Delta Marine in Seattle have just recently completed the moving of project Invader's steel hull to their assemble yard for the joining of the superstructure, the final fit out and final construction. Invader measures 66m (216ft) in length and comprises of steel hull and a composite superstructure. The best material was chosen for each application creating a strong, lightweight superstructure and strong ice strengthened hull. The result of the composite superstructure gives expansive windows with minimal stanchions, breathtaking views, maximum use of space, high ceilings, and efficient construction.

The process for moving the hull spanned over two days in which Delta transported the impressive 800 ton hull by barge to Delta’s main yard via the Duwamish waterway. Once at the yard they coordinated with the tides and the hull was rolled ashore into Delta’s high bay assembly building. After the hull move was complete Delta moved in three 550 ton cranes to maneuver the 138'8 by 21' superstructure that weighs 138,000 lb into place, seen in the very impressive picture above.

Invader's strong exterior lines and styling where designed by Delta's in-house team, and her interior was designed by Diane Johnson Design along with Johnson, Wen, Mulder & Associates. Her interior has a traditional classic yacht design with walnut and mahogany veneers, raised paneling, beamed overheads, and fluted columns, this all blends well with the high ceilings and grand foyers.

Some of her main features include a gym, theater, an expandable dining table for up to 20 guests, aft beach club and the owners private deck with a forward facing stateroom, salon and office. Invader will have a range of 5,000nm at 12kts prefect for circumnavigation, and the large windows will provide guests with amazing views during her long voyages around the world.

Invader is scheduled for delivery in spring 2013 and will her owners take on the beautiful but cold North West Passage or opt. for the warmer Panama Canal on her median voyage.

This beautiful pocket explorer is one of five sisterships built by the American yard and has just been through and extensive refit. During the refit she had all of her systems removed and replaced, an addition of a swimming platform and her interior has been totally rebuilt with rich mahogany floors and excellent built-in furniture. Delta Marine Launch 50m 'Arianna'

Arianna is Delta Marine's newest custom Megayacht launched and has been engineered and designed in house by the Delta Marine Group. She is 50m (164ft) in length and is the largest all composite 50m full displacement Megayacht in the world, with more than 780 gross tons. The Delta Marine Group worked close with the owner's to bring to life their vision of having a yacht that is ready to travel and explore with a Polynesian inspired interior, a home away from home.

She has a large living area of over 7,500 square feet and a beam of nearly 34ft. The large living volume was great for the interior designers to create the vision of the owner with the use of rare tropical hardwoods including Mascassar ebony, Wenge and Koa with Balinese inspired touches.

Some of her main features includes the large owner's suite located on the upper deck which has a lounge, a private outdoor deck, dining area and a customized room for children and family members. Traditionally on Megayachts of this size, forward on the main deck is usually dedicated to the owner's suite but with Arianna this space is occupied with a fully equipped gym, a sauna and a private office. These areas are filled with light from the stained glass skylights and large hull side windows.

There is plenty of outdoor space where guest can enjoy al fresco dining at the large seating area aft on the main deck, or relax in the sun and jacuzzi on the upper deck. Another feature to take note of is her float in tender garage aft and a smaller tender storage area on the sun deck.

She will have a cruising speed of 14.5kts and a maximum speed of 16kts with a transoceanic range of 5,000nm.
