Kingship Progress with 44m 'Green Voyager'

Kingship Marine from China and Axis Group Yacht Design from Viareggio, Italy have teamed up to build the 44m (144ft) 'Green Voyager' project which is making fast progress as seen in the above image. Green Voyager is a revolutionary new design concept that would be perfect for an owner who wishes to travel in luxurious comfort in a highly efficient yacht.

The efficiency of this Superyacht comes from its distinctive plumb (vertical) bow. The bow extends the waterline length until it is only 50cm shorter than the yachts overall length, thus producing a very low underwater drag. Kingship Marine have confirmed from tank testing that this hull shape uses minimum fuel consumption and offers an increase in propulsion efficiency of 16-18%. Due to this she will have an excellent cruising performance at a speed of 16kts.

Green Voyagers design connects owners and guests to the environment by the use of light and full glass sliding doors in the sky lounge, main saloon and dining area. Guests will have a great sense of space by Green Voyager bringing the outdoors inside. You can see in the image below the large floor to ceiling sliding doors on either side.

One of her main features is the large lounge seating area on the front of the upper deck, a rarity for a yacht of this size. She will be able to accommodate a total of 10 guests in 5 cabins which include the owners full beam master cabin which has his and her bathrooms and located forward on the main deck. The other 2 double and 2 twin cabins all en suite are located amidships on the lower deck. Green Voyager is scheduled for launch in late 2013.

'Green Voyager is a new conception with high efficiency, environmentally friendly yacht with an innovative design, you get both the benefits of both a modern and traditional Superyacht'.

The Rise of the Dragon

Is China ready to enter the global Superyacht construction market? They have been knocking on the door for a few years now but they seem to be ready to take on some of the worlds leading yards according to the cover story of the September issue of Superyacht Business.

Due to the rise in their economy and the ever growing wealth with the recent anouncement of their one millionth millionaire, their yacht sales reached a total of $260m US dollars in 2010 which was an increase of 142% from 2009. Government support and the rapidly growing shore line development, where most developments have marina's has also contributed to the rise in the yacht market. It is suggested that yacht sales will rise by 20 to 30 per cent annually over the next 5 years.

China have a lot of up and coming yards which include Zhuhai Sunbird yachts, IAG and Jet Tern. some of the most well know yards in china would be Cheoy Lee, McConaghy and Kingship.

Currently McConaghy yachts are in the middle of constructing Adastra a 141ft trimaran for a Hong Kong based client who is keen on long rage ocean cruising.

Kingship have just signed a contract for the construction of a new 246ft expedition mega yacht project name Arctic Whale. She will be able to accommodate 12 guests in 6 en suite cabins on expeditions to the most remote corners of the world.

The dragon is starting to rise and China's Superyacht industry is starting to become a major player in the industry.

Kingship's Innovation

Kingship's new project Essence is following after their previous project Green Voyager with their environmentally innovative designs. Essence will measure 139ft and promises to be the only Mega Yacht of her size with a fully dedicated owners deck. Axis Group Yacht Design is responsible for Essence's styling and engineering. You will see similarities between Essence and Green Voyager, the main one is their distinct bow.Essence will meet RINA green plus certification which ensures she will have little impact on the environment during her construction. The full details of Essence will be released at the Monaco Yacht Show at the end of the month.

The most extravagant feature will have to be her full owners deck. Usually with yachts of this size the upper deck will have the wheelhouse and a master cabin or a saloon, but with Essence the upper deck is the full owners deck. On this deck their will be a forward facing private terrace with seating to relax or enjoy the sun. There is also a dining area aft of the stateroom and the most unusual feature on this deck is the sliding sun roof over the master bed. This feature and the large windows will allow a lot of natural light into the room.

She will have accommodation for 8 guests and will have a crew of 8 and is expected to have a crusing speed of around 15kts.The wheelhouse is forward of the main deck which will allow easy access onto the foredeck for docking and also launching the tender which is stored under the sun pads in the front.
