M/Y Yogi Sinking Official Report

The official report on the sinking of M/Y Yogi which happened on the 17th February 2012 was released today by Bureau d'enquetes sur les evenements de mer (BEAmer). The report was released in both French and English and outlines three different scenarios that may have lead to the sinking of the 60m Yogi. BEAmer point out that the research and analysis conducted for the report was not carried out to determine criminal activity or assess individual liability.

Yogi was launched in 2011 by the Turkish shipyard Proteksan Turquoise and measure a total length of 60m (197ft). She was the third superyacht built in the yards 60m series.

Megayacht "Yogi" Sinks Off The Coast of Greece

The 60m Yogi Built and launched in 2011 by the Turkish Shipyard Porteksan Turquoise has sunk of the coast of Greece in bad weather conditions. All on board have been rescued by a Hellenic Coast Guard Helicopter. A major tragedy for the Superyacht industry but a special praise has to go out to the emergency response teams involved for their life saving heroics.

Turkish Delight


The Turkish shipyard Proteksan Turquoise got off to a flying start to 2011 launching three MegaYachts in a row. The most written about and well known of the three yacht launched is Yogi 197ft. The exterior lines of this yacht have the characteristics of an expedition type style but blend well to produce the stunning looks of this yacht.
The yard and their design team in collaboration with the owners have come together to create something very special. The owners of this yacht were keen to charter her out so she can be seen in the Med for her first charter season. the rate for charter is 375,000 a week and can accommodate up to 12 guests in 6 cabins. Some of her features includes a temperature controlled swimming pool aft on the second deck, a full massage room, a jacuzzi, a sun deck and two beach clubs.
The interior was designed by Jean Guy Verges and has the look at feel relaxation and tranquil. It all most has a zen like look with all the light colors and oriental style doors. This natural interior is perfect for the charter market and will suit everyone tastes.
She has a beam of 30.8ft which will leave plenty of space for her owners and guest to enjoy. With twin CAT engines she can produce a top speed of 16kts and a crusing speed of 12kts which will have a range of 5000nm.
