Royal Huisman Launch 122ft 'Pumula'

Dutch modern classic yacht specialists Royal Huisman have just launched their newest yacht the 37.33m (122.5ft) 'Pumula' project name: Bugamena (hull 390). Pumula is your classic cutter rigged sloop built to a high and modern standard. She will be able to accommodate 8 guests including the owners in an owners double cabin aft with private access to the deck, a double VIP cabin forward and two twin cabins forward of the owners cabin.

She is built in aluminum with her naval architecture by Gerard Dykstra & Partners and Rhoades Young Design responsible for her interior styling. She has a retractable bulb keel with a draft of 3.00m when fully up and 5.00m when fully down, some more of Pumula's specifications can be seen below.

Reichel & Pugh's New Design 115ft Classic Racer

Reichel & Pugh are mostly know for their excellent design in some of the worlds top racing yachts and have gained a renowned reputation in this area. Over recent times they have moved into the classic market as well to work as naval architects in projects such as the J Class yacht Ranger, a classic race that was launched in 2004. More recently they were the co-naval architects with Dykstra & Partners in the recently launched yacht Hetairos (Panamax) a classic ketch by Baltic Yachts.

Yet again Reichel & Pugh have entered the classic design market with their sleek new design for a classic racer. They wanted to recreate the classical elegance of a bygone era and combine it with modern underwater shape and appendages. This classic racer can be built for alloy or composite rigging to suit the owner, with a option of a fixed (Draft 4.80m) or lifting (Draft 4.00m - 5.50m) keel. The teak covered deck is simply laid out for ease of sail handling and racing functionality, all the winches are push button hydraulically powered for ease and simplicity.

The interior design of the yacht is comfortable and modern with a main saloon that features extensive seating areas on both port and starboard. There is an enclosed head and separate shower forward of the main saloon and a twin navigation area aft of the main saloon on the port side and a galley on the starboard side aft of the main saloon. J Class "Endeavour" Launches after Refit

The renowned 130ft J class yacht Endeavour was launched from the Yachting Developments yard in New Zealand on the 8th of October after under going and extensive 18 month refit. The extensive refit included the removal and replacement of the complete weather deck including all deck equipment. All of the yacht systems including the engine, hydraulic systems, winches, air con and electrical systems were either replaced or upgraded. The new carbon mast and boom were built by Southern Spars in Auckland and also the carbon standing rigging.

Dykstra & Partners were at the helm of the design crew and were instrumental in the design of the new deck layout and sail plans. After sea trials Endeavour will be getting ready to be shipped north of the equator in February to compete in the J class regattas in 2012.

Endeavour was commissioned by T.O.M Sopwith a British yachtsman to compete in the 1934 Americas Cup. She didn't take the Americas Cup title and was decommissioned in 1938 due to world war II. She survived many years up until 1984 when renowned yachtswoman Elizabeth Meyer took Endeavour through a refit in Holland and England. Now after her newest refit she will grace the yachting/racing world again.

Construction starts on 141m, by Dream Ship Victory

The green light for the construction of the worlds largest yacht has begun in Turkey at the Dream Ship Victory yards base on the Aegean Sea. The overall length of this spectacular yacht is going to be 141m (462ft).


There will be two top designers collaborating together with the design and construction of this yacht. The team will be made up of Ken Freivokh and Dykstra and partners. The yachts project name is Dream Symphony and it is thought that the new owner might be the Russian Billionaire Andrey Melnichenko the current owner of the well known MegaYacht "A".
Some of the top yachts in the world like the Maltese Falcon and Athena will have to had over their places and bow down to this monster when it is launched.
