Monaco Yacht Show 2011 Pictures

I will have to thank some of my friends at the show that took some pictures in their spare because I couldn't be there. Mega Yacht Global will be there next year for the 2012 show. If anyone has other pictures of the show send them in and we will put them up on the photos page. Below are some pictures hope you all enjoy.

Herb Chambers New Mega Yacht "Excellence V"

The new launch by Abeking & Rasmussen, the 200ft Excellence V commissioned and owned by happy owner Herb Chambers the New England car dealership entrepreneur. Excellence V is a down size from his old yacht Excellence IV 258ft which has been sold to a new owner. The main reason for this was that he didn't think he needed such a big Mega Yacht and also with his new one he can get into his favorite ports.

She has interior and exterior designs by the London based design office Reymond Langton Design. Rich and dark woods will line the walls and large deep windows will let in more natural light into the main saloon area. Some of her main features will be a spa, gym, sauna and a private deck for Chambers which also includes his own saloon and for sure the aft garage will be full with lots of water toys. She will be able to accommodate 14 guests and have a crew of 18.

Numptia 230ft was one of the star attractions at the Monaco Yacht Show last week. She was launched in April by the Rossi Navi yard in Viareggio, Italy to an owner who was prepared to cross the conventional boundaries in yacht design and innovation. An extensive brief was given to the exterior designers Spadolini and the interior designers Salvagni from the owner with his wishes for the design.

The owner chose these designers who are relatively young in their sector to introduce young, fresh and innovative designs. Some of her main features include a spa deck, two main saloons, an upper pool and sun deck and ceiling to floor windows. She can accommodate 12 guests including the owner and a crew of 19. The owners suite is a full beam suite that covers 170 square meters, and their are also 2 double, 2 twin suites on the lower deck and a slightly larger VIP suite on the bridge deck. Impossible Productions INK, New 90m Concept

Impossible Productions INK. is a New York city base design studio that was started in 2009. They have come up with the above concept design of a 90m superyacht which is called IPI90 at the moment. If you are attending the up coming Monaco Yacht Show look out for impossible production INK where they will have their concept on display.

This concept is a very modern design incorporating a reversed bow and seven beautifully tiered decks that blend well to form a sleek wave resemblance towards the aft decks. The upper most deck is mainly for the helicopter pad. The other decks above the main deck boast full beam infinity pools at the end as well as large areas to relax and dine in the sun. Forward of these deck also have places for the sun worshipers. Inside there is plenty of open space for the guests and owner to enjoy. She will have single and double height areas to give and open feeling.

This concept seems to be one of the best out there at the moment and maybe will start production after the MYS, if the right owner feels that it is right for them.

Britain's Largest Mega Yacht "Vava II" Splashes

On the 10th of September the shipyard Devonport Yachts soon to be named Pendennis Plus due to the re-branding that the Pendennis yard are under taking, launched the Largest privately owned Mega Yacht ever to be constructed in Britain. The yacht that can be seen below was originally called project P55 became formally known as Vava II 315ft.

With the name of the yacht confirmed as Vava II speculation about the new owner has arisen suggesting that it might have been commissioned by Ernesto Bertarelli a Swiss born pharmaceuticals magnet and owner of the ex Americas Cup team Alinghi as his old Mega Yacht was called Vava 155ft built by Feadship in 1996.

The owner has requested that the specs of the yacht be kept private, but we can say that the yacht was designed by Redman Whitely Dixon and the interior was designed by Remi Tessier who has produced some excellent designs in the past which include the recently launched Heesen yacht Satori 163ft and two Perini Navi's Parsifal III 177ft and Salute 183ft so expect the interior of Vava II to be of the highest standard.

Vava II will begin her sea trials in October and will be delivered to her owner shortly after that.

Kingship's Innovation

Kingship's new project Essence is following after their previous project Green Voyager with their environmentally innovative designs. Essence will measure 139ft and promises to be the only Mega Yacht of her size with a fully dedicated owners deck. Axis Group Yacht Design is responsible for Essence's styling and engineering. You will see similarities between Essence and Green Voyager, the main one is their distinct bow.Essence will meet RINA green plus certification which ensures she will have little impact on the environment during her construction. The full details of Essence will be released at the Monaco Yacht Show at the end of the month.

The most extravagant feature will have to be her full owners deck. Usually with yachts of this size the upper deck will have the wheelhouse and a master cabin or a saloon, but with Essence the upper deck is the full owners deck. On this deck their will be a forward facing private terrace with seating to relax or enjoy the sun. There is also a dining area aft of the stateroom and the most unusual feature on this deck is the sliding sun roof over the master bed. This feature and the large windows will allow a lot of natural light into the room.

She will have accommodation for 8 guests and will have a crew of 8 and is expected to have a crusing speed of around 15kts.The wheelhouse is forward of the main deck which will allow easy access onto the foredeck for docking and also launching the tender which is stored under the sun pads in the front.

Solar Power, Keep it Green

Solar 85ft, is the second Mega Yacht with solar panels to be built by Arcadia Yachts in Italy. The above picture was taken yesterday at the dock in Porto Cervo, Sardinia. Solar was launched in 2010 and has been listed with Edmiston & Company since its launch for charter at a price of €49,000 per week.

Solar run's what is called the hotel load usage of their solar panels. This means that everything from her air conditioning, lighting, refrigeration and the pump are all run from the solar panels. This gives a pleasant and tranquil feeling when on board without the hum's and noises of pumps and generators. She can burn 7.9 gallons of fuel per hr at a speed of 9kts and has a top speed of 18kts.

This Yacht can say that she is green from using solar panels to organic soaps and beauty products and the chef only using the finest organic foods to cook with where guest can enjoy in the aft deck. Solar can accommodate 8 guests in a full-beam master suite, a VIP stateroom and two twin staterooms. The interior is a contemporary with large windows from floor to ceiling windows in the saloon to let in the natural light.

"Turmoil" 209ft Expedition Style Yacht

Turmoil 209ft was launched in 2006 by the shipyard Royal Denship who are currently in administration due to them being declared bankrupt in April 2009. This Mega Yacht belonged to the late Gary Comer who founded the Lands' End clothing company. Three months after taking delivery of Turmoil Gary passed away. The boat is believed to be still used by his family. The above picture was taken in Valencia on the 4/9/2011, so if any of you are in the area it is well worth a trip down to have a look at this huge expedition yacht which was designed by Ole Rune.

She can accommodate up to 12 guests and has a crew of 16. When this yacht was been constructed great attention was placed on the crew who are treated like guests on board this yacht with all of them have their own en suite cabin. As you sometimes hear "a happy crew means a happy boat and a happy owner" this philosophy was defiantly taken into consideration.

There is one deck dedicated to the late Gary Comer which features aft master stateroom and a forward study with a 180 deg view. the study has paintings of yachts, models of yachts and books of adventure, exploration, sailing. shows you what kind of a character the owner was. She has a max speed of 16kts and a cruising speed of 14kts with a range of 6,500nm.
Turmoil joins the elite in the expedition class as a self sufficient world explorer.
