Spotted In The Caribbean

Two very recognisable megayachts have been spotted enjoying the tropical sun of the Caribbean with their owners and guests.

The sporty 65m (213ft) "Galactica Star" that was launched by Heesen Yachts on the 25th of March 2013 and was spotted in the North Sound Virgin Gorda in the BVI last week.

The  Galactica Star concept was presented to the superyacht community in September 2010 at the Monaco Yacht Club and the contract for the construction of the first 65m FDHF was signed just one month later, in October 2010. Construction took place at the Heesen facility in Oss where the laying of the keel was marked with an official ceremony in February 2011.

Van Oossenan naval architects designed the sophisticated hydrodynamic hull shape that is 30% more efficient than your traditional round bilge superyacht design. Her advanced design combines a special hybrid hull form that results in a very low wave profile over the entire speed range, while also improving manoeuvrability. This provides low running costs for Galactica Star, as well as lowering the environmental footprint due to reduced engine emissions. Your perfect green superyacht!

Frank Laupman at Omega Architects was responsible for the streamlined exterior lines, while Bannenberg and Rowell Design have created the sophisticated interior. She was handed over to her new owners in June 2013 and as you can see from the above image they are making full use of her.

There is not much known about the 78m (256ft) megayacht "Venus" also known to people as the "iboat". She was self designed by the late Steve Jobs in collaboration with Philippe Starck and was one of the most anticipated and secretive megayachts to be launched when she hit the water on the 28th of October 2012, a year after Steve Jobs passed away. Shes a stunning megayacht with sharp lines that has now become one of the world most recognisable megayachts.

North Sound, Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands (BVI) is where you will find one of the best, if not the best MegaYacht Mecca. this closed bay can only be entered by one channel and on entering you will come across one of the best that nature has to offer "Natures little secret".

This is a haven for MegaYacht's to come with their owners and also when the the crew have time away from owners and charters its one of their favorite places to come chill out and unwind.

Denship, the owner of this boat is said to be a Mexican Business man.

Below we have one of the most extraordinary MegaYachts right now. SKAT is the 233ft built by Lurssen and designed by Espen Oino. The owner of this boat is Charles Simonyi the chief architect at Microsoft. The sharp angles of this boat make it stand out among others.





For all you MegaYacht spotters out there this place is really a true Haven to see up close some of the most spectacular yachts in the world.
This picture below was taken with Martha Ann 230ft Lurssen on the dock at The Bitter End Yacht Club beside Charisma 153ft Feadship. The difference in proportion between these two yachts is just mind blowing.
